Tips Expressing Preference

In daily conversation, expressing preference is used to express a preference when given a choice between two items. It is used to express how we prefer something or even someone.

Well, we will discuss some kinds of expressing preference. Here they are;

Prefer + ……………………. + to ……………………….

Just as a note, when we want to use prefer in expressing preference, we have to use the same items, noun plus noun, adjective plus adjective or verb-ing plus verb-ing

Here are the examples;

  • I prefer market to mall
  • I prefer watching Korean drama to going around the city

Like ……………..+ better than………………

In this expressing, we use verb-ing and noun

Here are the examples;

  • I like cooking some cakes better than washing clothes
  • I like traditional food better than modern food

 

Would rather……….+ than……………

This expression is followed by bare infinitive

Here are the examples;

  • I would rather stay with you than hang out with him
  • I would rather go jogging than sleep in the morning
